More Than A Statistic. More Than A Headline.
Eli Sanchez was a son, a brother, a teammate, a coach, a friend, and a young man whose impact reached far beyond the field.
To know Eli was to know kindness.
Rawly Eliazar Sanchez was known by those around him as Eli.
He never met a stranger. He never wanted anyone to feel left out. He was the person people could depend on.
Whether on a baseball field, in a classroom, at church, or surrounded by family, Eli made people feel seen.
The Smile Everyone Remembers
Eli’s laugh was contagious. His energy could pump up a crowd, light up a room, and make people feel like they belonged.
Athlete. Student. Leader.
Eli’s story was shaped by sports, school, family, faith, and the people he encouraged along the way.
Baseball
Eli started playing baseball at 4 years old and kept the same jersey number through high school. #4 meant everything to him.
Education
Eli graduated from John Tyler High School in 2022 and earned a full academic scholarship to Tyler Junior College.
Faith
Shortly before his passing, Eli became devoted to his faith. His testimony continues to move people toward the Lord.
Eli dreamed big.
He graduated from Tyler Junior College in May of 2024 with an associate degree in Business.
He planned to continue his education and pursue architecture, with applications submitted to several universities.
Opportunities were opening. His story was only beginning.
More Than Baseball
Eli was also a four-year varsity golfer and loved the game from the time he was young.
Full of Talent
He played multiple sports, joined National Junior Honor Society, and even played saxophone in middle school band.
Always Himself
Eli loved to bowl and had a knack for it, often scoring in the 200s with friends and family nearby.
A Night That Changed Everything
On July 4, 2024, Eli and his friends were returning home after celebrating Independence Day.
Following GPS directions down a rural road, their vehicle came under gunfire.
Twelve shots were fired.
One bullet took Eli’s life.
He was only 19 years old.
Grief changes people.
For Eli’s family, it created a choice.
They could allow tragedy to become the final chapter, or they could build something that would help others for generations.
